Ukraine Plans Expanded Long-Range Actions

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he has approved the country’s long-range action plans for June and called for an expansion of measures targeting Russia. In an address published May 19, he said such actions had shown significant impact during May.

Zelenskyy said he received military reports on frontline developments and Russian assaults, particularly in the Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka directions, Kharkiv region and Zaporizhzhia. He said Ukraine was holding more positions and inflicting greater damage, while pledging increased supplies, including unmanned ground vehicles, drones and dedicated funding for combat brigades.

The president also outlined diplomatic priorities for May and June, including bilateral work with Hungary’s new government and efforts to normalize relations with Georgia. He said Ukraine was continuing preparations for its European Union accession negotiations and seeking a timetable for opening negotiation clusters.

Zelenskyy further announced the start of a process to return the remains of Ukrainian historical figures buried abroad. He cited Colonel Andriy Melnyk and his wife, Sofia, as an initial case and said preparations were also underway concerning Colonel Yevhen Konovalets and other figures associated with Ukraine’s independence movement.
