The Ipswich District celebrated the grand opening of the new Ripley Police Station and District Headquarters, a state-of-the-art facility designed to enhance local law enforcement capabilities and community safety. The $38 million complex, which also houses several specialist units, is set to significantly boost the frontline operations in the region.

Located in the heart of Ipswich, the three-story complex will accommodate more than 200 police officers and support staff, including the Criminal Investigation Branch, Child Protection Investigation Unit, and Forensic Crash Unit. The facility, which completed construction earlier this year, extends its services across a broad area, reaching communities from Toogoolawah to Rosewood.

During the opening ceremony, Acting Commissioner of Police Brett Pointing and Ipswich District Officer Acting Superintendent Ben MacKenzie highlighted the facility’s role in addressing the growing needs of the community. The new station not only promises enhanced workflow and coordination among units but also increases the frontline staff by 30 officers, thereby strengthening police presence and community relations in the area.

The Ripley Police Station is envisioned as a hub for community safety, featuring advanced facilities like major incident rooms, spaces dedicated to handling Domestic and Family Violence cases, forensic science labs, and a vehicle examination bay. This central setup aims to foster greater public trust and ensure a proactive approach to maintaining safety and security across the district.
