An extensive eight-month investigation by Queensland Police has culminated in a widescale crackdown on a drug trafficking ring in Chinchilla, leading to significant arrests and seizures. Dubbed Operation Xray Discourse, the operation targeted the distribution networks of dangerous drugs such as cocaine, methylamphetamine, and cannabis in Chinchilla and nearby areas.

The operation involved coordinated efforts from the South West District Tactical Crime Squad, focusing on a syndicate based in Chinchilla. The police were also supported by the Brisbane Major Organised Crime Squad and the Brisbane Dog Squad. Their efforts resulted in the arrest of 38 individuals who now face a total of 496 charges.

Key figures in the operation, including seven individuals specifically charged with trafficking dangerous drugs, were apprehended during raids conducted last Friday and Saturday. These raids also led to the seizure of over $100,000 in cash alongside large quantities of illegal drugs. Among those charged are five residents from Chinchilla, one from Harristown, and one from Jondaryan, highlighting the operation’s extensive reach.

Detective Inspector Andrew Trenerry of the South West District lauded the operation’s success, emphasizing the community’s zero tolerance for drug-related activities that threaten rural areas. He praised the crucial role of public information provided to CrimeStoppers in the operation’s success and encouraged continued vigilance and reporting of illegal activities.

The police’s success in Operation Xray Discourse underscores the ongoing commitment to combating the supply and harmful impact of dangerous drugs in rural communities, ensuring safety and security for all residents.
