A serious assault in Carrara has left one man hospitalized and a woman treated for injuries early Thursday morning, according to the Queensland Police Service. The incident occurred at approximately 4 a.m. when a 38-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman were awakened by their dogs barking. They noticed an unfamiliar light in their lounge room. Upon investigating, the male resident encountered an intruder, leading to a physical confrontation. The homeowner sustained wounds to his torso, right shoulder, and a facial cut, while the female victim suffered a chest injury. Following the altercation, the assailant fled the scene. The male victim was subsequently admitted to the hospital in a serious but stable condition, whereas the female victim received treatment and was released. Later in the day, an 18-year-old man from Carrara was taken into police custody. He is currently assisting with the investigation.
