Brisbane was thrown into chaos yesterday afternoon when a 31-year-old man, allegedly driving a stolen vehicle, caused multiple accidents, including a dramatic crash on the Story Bridge. The series of events led to traffic disruptions and minor injuries for the suspect, who was later charged with several offenses.

Early reports indicate that the suspect, identified as a resident of Woolloongabba, initiated his crime spree by stealing a black Toyota Yaris from a business on Logan Road. The vehicle was subsequently involved in reckless driving incidents across several Brisbane suburbs, including Toowong and Greenslopes, leading up to the crash on MacDonald Street, Kangaroo Point.

The situation escalated when the suspect, just minutes after the first crash, forcibly commandeered another car, a red Toyota Corolla, from a 43-year-old woman on Main Street. The stolen Corolla was then involved in another accident on the Story Bridge, where it collided with multiple vehicles before rolling over.

The suspect sustained minor injuries and was transported to the Royal Brisbane Woman’s Hospital. He has been charged with seven different offenses, including two counts each of unlawful use of a vehicle, driving without a license, and dangerous operation of a vehicle under the influence, along with one count of armed robbery using personal violence.

He is scheduled to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today. Authorities urge anyone with additional information to contact Policelink or report anonymously via Crime Stoppers. The police have also provided reference numbers for the incidents to assist in information gathering and reporting.
