Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, announced expedited measures to increase electricity imports in response to the country’s severe energy crisis exacerbated by recent Russian military strikes. In an official address posted on the government’s website, Zelenskyy detailed the extensive damage caused by these strikes and the ongoing emergency response.

The President confirmed that all necessary political and legal decisions to boost electricity imports have been finalized and called for immediate implementation. This directive applies to both state-owned and private sectors. The government’s swift action aims to mitigate the effects of power shortages affecting over 400,000 residents in Kharkiv and other regions like Kyiv, where significant infrastructure damage has been reported.

Zelenskyy also highlighted the broader context of Ukraine’s defense and diplomatic efforts. He revealed additional sanctions against individuals justifying or propagating Russian aggression and emphasized continuous enhancements to Ukraine’s air defense and military protocols. Amidst these developments, a Ukrainian delegation has traveled to the United States to reinforce international support and convey the direct impacts of the conflict on Ukraine’s diplomatic engagements and civilian faith in peace processes.
