Authorities have resumed the search for a 20-year-old man who went missing while swimming near Main Beach. The search operation began early yesterday after the man, reportedly a tourist, was seen struggling in the waters off Braker Street around 6:30 PM.

Witnesses who attempted to help reported losing sight of him shortly after, prompting an extensive search involving the Queensland Police Service, Water Police, jetskis, PolAir helicopters, SSUV Beach Rhinos, and foot patrols, along with local surf life savers. Despite these efforts, the search was halted at 8:30 PM due to failing light but resumed at dawn today.

The police urge anyone with information about the missing swimmer to come forward. Information can be reported to Policelink or anonymously through Crime Stoppers. The Queensland Police Service continues to coordinate the search efforts and requests the public’s assistance in providing any relevant information.
