In a solemn tribute in Kyiv, the Presidents of Ukraine and the Czech Republic commemorated the memory of Ukrainian defenders who lost their lives in service. The ceremony took place on January 16, 2026, near St. Michael’s Cathedral.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine and his Czech counterpart, President Petr Pavel, who was visiting Ukraine, participated in the memorial event. Both leaders walked along the Wall of Remembrance, a revered site dedicated to fallen Ukrainian soldiers, where they paid their respects.

This act of homage by the leaders not only underscores the strong diplomatic relations between Ukraine and the Czech Republic but also highlights their mutual respect for the sacrifices made by military personnel in the pursuit of national security and peace.
