Samsung Electronics used the final session of its CES 2026 Tech Forum series to explore how design and artificial intelligence can create more human-centered technology. The panel, titled “The Human Side of Tech: Designing a Future Worth Living,” was held at Samsung’s The First Look space at The Wynn Las Vegas. Moderated by “Design Matters” host Debbie Millman, the discussion featured Samsung Chief Design Officer Mauro Porcini and designers Karim Rashid and Fabio Novembre. The panel examined how the technology industry could move beyond minimalist design toward products and experiences that are warmer, more expressive and emotionally engaging. Panelists emphasized that design should focus on people’s lives, needs and relationships with technology. Porcini described Samsung’s design purpose as improving quality of life through meaningful technology, while Rashid said thoughtful design can foster strong emotional connections with everyday products. The discussion also addressed artificial intelligence and its role in creativity. Porcini presented the concept “AI × (EI + HI),” combining artificial intelligence with emotional intelligence and human imagination. The panelists said AI should support rather than replace human creativity, with technology guided by human values, expression and well-being.
