Detectives from the Ipswich Criminal Investigation Branch have taken a 32-year-old man into custody following a dramatic armed robbery at a tobacco store in Yamanto, Queensland. The incident occurred on the evening of November 9, around 5:10 PM, when the suspect allegedly threatened a staff member and made off with a cash register.

According to police reports, the man entered the store located on Warwick Road, wielding a threat to secure cash, before escaping in a stolen vehicle—a 2009 Hyundai i30. Fortunately, no physical injuries were reported during the robbery. The stolen vehicle was tracked down a few hours later around 9 PM at a hotel on Brisbane Street in Booval. Upon police arrival, the suspect reportedly confronted them with a knife before being arrested.

The Hyundai had been reported stolen earlier that day from a property on Keogh Street in Ipswich. The accused now faces multiple charges including armed robbery, serious assault of police, receiving tainted property, and entering a dwelling to commit a crime. He appeared before the Ipswich Magistrates Court today.

Authorities continue their investigation into the incident and urge anyone with information to come forward. Members of the public can report anonymously via Crime Stoppers or use the Policelink online service to submit any suspicious activity.
