Brisbane City Bike Squad has arrested a 19-year-old man from Boondall on multiple charges related to the illegal use of an e-bike. The arrest followed proactive patrols by the squad aiming to curb the misuse of e-bikes within the city. The incident occurred on Elizabeth Street, where officers observed the suspect riding an illegal e-bike. The Queensland Police allege that upon interception, the man initially cooperated with officers but subsequently attempted to flee. After being apprehended, a search revealed a used pipe in his possession. The young man now faces seven charges, including dangerous operation of a vehicle, serious assault of a police officer, and driving a vehicle without a license, among others. He is scheduled to appear before the Brisbane Magistrates Court on August 6. Inspector Peta Comadira of the North Brisbane District emphasized the importance of compliance with e-bike regulations. “Some e-bikes exceed speed limits and are classified as motorbikes, requiring registration, insurance, and a licence,” she said. The inspector urged e-bike owners to familiarize themselves with the relevant rules to avoid legal complications. The Queensland Police Service remains committed to enhancing road safety and encourages the public to report any suspicious activities related to e-bikes. The ongoing operations aim to ensure compliance and promote safety on the roads. Post navigation Fatal Crash Claims Young Rider Teens Charged in Stolen BMW Case
