Zelenskyy Honors Fallen Media Heroes

In a solemn ceremony held on June 6, 2025, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy bestowed state awards upon over 30 Ukrainian media professionals. These individuals have played pivotal roles in reporting on the ongoing conflict with Russia, often facing dangerous conditions on the front lines. Among the honorees are journalists, hosts, editors, and cameramen, some of whom have survived captivity or suffered injuries due to Russian aggression, while others have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

The ceremony took place against the backdrop of the 3rd International Summit of Cities and Regions “United for Peace and Security” in Kyiv. During the summit, President Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation across Europe, highlighting the role of media in conveying the truth about Ukraine’s struggle to the world.

In his address, Zelenskyy reiterated the significant challenge posed by Russian efforts to disrupt global unity, urging for stronger diplomatic measures and security guarantees to establish peace. The President’s comments were echoed by Andriy Yermak, Head of the Office of the President, who underscored ongoing U.S. support for Ukraine, including potential new sanctions against Russia.
