Police have charged six individuals in connection with a serious assault incident that took place in Airlie Beach in the Whitsundays on May 10. The altercation, involving eight people at a hotel on Shute Harbour Road, resulted in a 51-year-old man from Bowen sustaining serious head injuries and a 47-year-old man from Bowen sustaining minor injuries to his face and arm. Both victims were taken to Proserpine Hospital for treatment.

Subsequent investigations led to a search warrant being executed at a Conway Road residence, where a significant amount of cannabis and an unregistered weapon were seized. A 48-year-old man from Conway was arrested on May 25 and charged with multiple offenses, including assaults occasioning bodily harm, producing dangerous drugs, and unlawful possession of a weapon. Additionally, a 26-year-old man from Cannonvale, a 23-year-old man from Conway, and two women aged 48 and 18 from Conway were also arrested and charged with various assault-related offenses.

Furthermore, a 49-year-old man from Conway was arrested on May 29 and charged with common assault. All six individuals are scheduled to appear before the Proserpine Magistrates Court on July 7, while investigations into the incident continue.
