Authorities in six European countries have dismantled infrastructure linked to an alleged investment fraud network, arresting seven suspects and seizing more than 100 servers. The Europol- and Eurojust-supported operation identified potential victims in more than 50 countries and estimated losses exceeding €4 million.

The coordinated action on Nov. 3 involved authorities from Albania, Cyprus, Finland, Germany, Kosovo and North Macedonia. Led by the German Itzehoe Public Prosecutor’s Office, investigators searched 17 locations and seized digital evidence, assets and servers. The suspects are being held with a view to extradition to Germany.

Investigators allege that a company operating from Cyprus and Israel supplied fraudulent trading websites to criminal groups. The platforms purported to offer investments in cryptocurrencies, foreign currencies and stocks, while associated call centres pressured victims to transfer increasingly large sums.

Victims were initially encouraged to make small payments and were shown fictitious profits through online accounts. When they attempted to withdraw their money, operators allegedly delayed or blocked payments before cutting off contact. The investigation began in 2022 after a German couple reported being unable to recover funds from an online trading platform, with follow-up operations conducted in 2022 and 2025.
