Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held talks with several international leaders and announced new sanctions against Russian entities, while saying Ukraine was prepared to avoid strikes on Russian energy infrastructure if Moscow takes reciprocal action. Following a call with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Zelenskyy praised Poland’s support and its understanding of the security threats facing Ukraine. He said cooperation between the two countries was essential to strengthening regional security. Ukraine also imposed sanctions on Russian ballistic-missile producers, entities accused of helping circumvent financial restrictions and individuals allegedly acting in Russia’s interests in temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories. The measures were enacted through decrees signed by Zelenskyy following decisions by Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council. The Ukrainian president separately said Kyiv was ready to participate in an energy ceasefire after the United States announced that such an arrangement had been secured. Zelenskyy also held phone calls with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Finnish President Alexander Stubb and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
