The European Parliament will hold a press briefing on its 5–8 October plenary session, outlining debates and votes on the European Union’s political priorities, budget, security and social challenges. The briefing is scheduled for Monday, October 5, at 16:30 in the Daphne Caruana Galizia press room and online.

Parliament members are expected to discuss priorities for the October 15–16 European Council with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and the Irish Council presidency. The agenda also includes debate on the EU’s proposed 2028–2034 long-term budget and measures to address the cost-of-living crisis and improve housing affordability.

Lawmakers will vote on the €115 million AGILE defence innovation programme. They will also debate and vote on Russia’s parliamentary elections, discuss the humanitarian situation in Ukraine and consider measures to protect and empower children online.

The plenary programme includes a “This is Europe” debate with Portuguese Prime Minister Luís Montenegro. The press briefing will be interpreted in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Polish, and will be available through Parliament’s webstreaming services.
