Flying Squad Marks 200 Deployments

Queensland’s enhanced State Flying Squad has completed its 200th deployment since its expansion in January 2025, assisting police operations in crime hotspots across the state.

Queensland Police said the squad’s investigators have charged more than 1,406 adults with 4,425 offences and 1,555 young people with 4,616 offences during that period. The unit has also supported regional police and specialist teams, including the Public Safety Response Team and Dog Squad.

During a recent week-long deployment in Caboolture, investigators charged 11 adults with 44 offences and eight young people with 17 offences. The alleged offences included property and drug crimes, offences against people and breaches of bail.

Police said officers assisting with a search warrant at a Strathpine residence allegedly found cocaine, methylamphetamine, drug utensils and balaclavas. A 29-year-old man was arrested and remanded in custody on drug and driving-related charges. In a separate search at a Morayfield residence, officers allegedly recovered stolen property and arrested a 26-year-old woman on multiple charges, including receiving tainted property, drug possession and alleged vehicle and property offences.

Detective Chief Superintendent Colin Briggs said the squad had become an effective resource for supporting local police and tackling serious repeat offending. He said the State Flying Squad would continue working with regional officers and specialist units to identify and disrupt serious crime.
