Slavutych Expands Energy and Security Systems

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reviewed progress on energy, housing and security projects during a visit to Slavutych, according to the presidential website. Officials briefed him on measures ordered during his previous visit to the northern Kyiv region city.

Shelters equipped with recreation rooms, medical stations and cafeterias have been completed in four schools, officials said. Reconstruction of 43 apartments for internally displaced people has also been completed, while work on 54 additional apartments is expected to finish in August.

An energy hub funded by the European Union is scheduled for completion in June. The facility will have a generation capacity of 2.2 megawatts through cogeneration units, solar equipment and energy storage systems, and is expected to cover more than 60% of the city’s needs.

Officials also reported progress on a 2.5-kilometer barrier-free route and strengthened defense measures, including anti-drone protection. Repairs to the Slavutych City Hospital’s main building, along with the installation of solar panels and batteries, were supported by UNITED24, the Energy Community and the Ukraine Energy Support Fund. EU-backed reconstruction has also been carried out at a child development center, a sports and wellness complex and the city swimming pool.
