Queensland police have fined a 19-year-old driver and suspended his licence after he was allegedly caught travelling at 155 kilometres per hour in a 100km/h zone at Teebar on the Fraser Coast. Police said the green P-plate driver overtook an unmarked police vehicle on Brooweena-Woolooga Road at about 2pm on May 13. The Torbanlea man was fined $1,919, received eight demerit points and had his licence suspended for six months. The Wide Bay Highway Patrol issued the warning during National Road Safety Week, saying 15 people had died on roads across the district so far this year—two more than during the same period in 2025. Maryborough Highway Patrol Officer in Charge Josh Churchward said police would continue high-visibility patrols and enforcement under Operation Interpose. He urged motorists to avoid the “Fatal Five” behaviours: speeding, drink and drug driving, distraction, failing to wear a seatbelt and fatigue.
