A 35-year-old man in Ayr has been charged with multiple domestic violence offenses following an incident earlier this month. The man allegedly threatened a woman known to him with a firearm at a Brandon address on May 16. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident. The woman reported the incident to police on May 21, leading to the man’s arrest on May 22 at the intersection of Queens Street and Railway Street.

The man was charged with contravention of a domestic violence order, breach of bail condition, possession of utensils or pipes, and threatening violence involving firearms. He was denied bail and is scheduled to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on May 23. Detective Inspector Damien Smith emphasized the police’s zero-tolerance approach to domestic violence, urging those in need of help to contact the authorities.
