Queensland police have increased high-visibility road safety operations across Logan ahead of the Easter long weekend, targeting drink driving and other dangerous behaviours expected to increase during the busy travel period. During roadside breath-testing operations in Yarrabilba and Flagstone on March 27, officers conducted 281 tests and detected two alleged drink drivers. A 37-year-old Flagstone man allegedly recorded a blood alcohol concentration of 0.122 per cent, while a 30-year-old Yarrabilba man allegedly recorded 0.133 per cent. Both were issued Notices to Appear at Beaudesert Magistrates Court. The Yarrabilba man was also charged with allegedly driving while unlicensed and in an unregistered vehicle. A second operation on March 29 along Tamborine Mountain Road and Beaudesert-Nerang Road involved 256 additional breath tests. Police allegedly detected one driver over the legal limit and identified a disqualified driver, whose vehicle was immobilised for 90 days. Inspector Emma Reilly said the results highlighted the risks posed by drink driving and other high-risk behaviour. Police said further operations would continue across Logan during the Easter period and urged motorists to plan ahead, avoid driving under the influence, remain patient and make safe choices on the roads.
