Parents, carers and educators will be able to attend a free forum in Alexandra Hills on September 9 focused on helping young people stay safe online. The event will cover risks including online grooming, child sexual exploitation, sexual extortion, cyberbullying and inappropriate contact.

The Tech Savvy Tech Safe Forum, supported by the Queensland Police Service and hosted by Redland City Council, will also address privacy, consent and self-generated content. Organizers say the session will provide practical advice on prevention, responding to online incidents and accessing support.

Representatives from the Queensland Police Service, the Australian Federal Police’s ThinkUKnow program, the Centre Against Sexual Violence, Kids Helpline and Parentline are scheduled to speak.

The forum will run from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, with light refreshments available from 5 p.m. at the Alexandra Hills Hotel and Conference Centre, 332 Finucane Road. Attendance is free, but bookings are required through Eventbrite.
