Two Hiking Rescues in One Day

Queensland Government Air Rescue 500 crews carried out two separate rescues in Tallebudgera Valley on August 21, safely assisting four hikers stranded in the area.

Two women, aged 19 and 22, were rescued from Mount Cougal after becoming stranded while hiking the previous day. The pair contacted emergency services at about 6:40 p.m., but deteriorating conditions prevented their safe extraction that night. They were advised to remain in place overnight and were rescued at about 5:45 a.m. the following morning.

The hikers were assessed by paramedics and reported no injuries. Later that day, the rescue crew was called to Bally Mountain, where a 19-year-old woman and 20-year-old man had become stranded after sustaining minor injuries while hiking.

The pair were located and safely airlifted at about 4:20 p.m. before being taken to Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment.
