Eight Charged in Ipswich Operation

Queensland Police have charged eight people with 23 offences following an operation targeting alleged weapons and drug-related offending across Ipswich. Officers seized methamphetamine, firearms, ammunition and a conducted energy weapon during search warrants at properties in West Ipswich, Redbank Plains and Ipswich earlier this month.

A 34-year-old West Ipswich man and a 29-year-old Leichhardt woman face multiple weapons, explosives and drug-related charges. Both have been remanded in custody and are scheduled to appear separately in Ipswich Magistrates Court in September.

Other defendants include a 38-year-old Rosewood man, a 54-year-old Edens Landing man and a 38-year-old Cairns man, who face various drug, weapons, utensils and explosives-related charges. A 39-year-old woman was dealt with through drug diversion over alleged offences involving drug-use equipment and the unsafe handling of a syringe or needle.

Ipswich Tactical Crime Squad Officer-in-Charge Senior Sergeant Michelle Blaney said the operation had removed dangerous items from the community. Police said investigations into weapons and drug offending remain ongoing.
