At least 14 people were killed and more than 100 injured in a drone strike on a shopping mall in Kryvyi Rih, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an address published Aug. 21. Eleven children were among the injured, according to the statement. Zelenskyy said rescue operations were underway and emergency services had been deployed at the site. Authorities were also working to determine how many people had been inside the shopping mall when the attack occurred. The Ukrainian president attributed the strike to several Russian drones and condemned it as a deliberate attack. He expressed condolences to the victims’ families and called for continued international support to help end the war. Zelenskyy also thanked emergency workers and others assisting victims in Kryvyi Rih and elsewhere in Ukraine. The casualty figures may change as rescue and recovery operations continue.
