A 32-year-old man has died and two people have been injured in a two-vehicle crash at Kia Ora near Gympie on August 22, Queensland Police said. The crash occurred on Tin Can Bay Road at about 10:45 a.m.

Initial investigations indicate a silver Hyundai Getz was travelling east when it collided with a white Toyota LandCruiser towing a caravan travelling in the opposite direction. The Hyundai driver, who was the vehicle’s sole occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Toyota driver, an 81-year-old man, and his 82-year-old passenger were airlifted to Sunshine Coast University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Tin Can Bay Road between Priddy Road and Gravel Forestry Road was closed for several hours but has since reopened. The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating and is seeking witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage.
