Ukraine Targets Russia’s War Machine

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed four decrees imposing Ukrainian sanctions on Russian military-industrial companies, Rusal-affiliated enterprises, senior officials, collaborators and individuals involved in producing and distributing Russian propaganda content for children.

One sanctions decision covers 28 Russian citizens, 36 Russian companies and one Chinese company. The targeted entities are linked to the supply of high-precision equipment, electronics, components and raw materials, as well as the manufacture and repair of military equipment and research into drones, specialized systems and software for Russian security agencies.

A separate decision targets five Rusal group enterprises and nine Russian citizens associated with them. Ukraine said the companies import alumina and produce aluminum used by Russia’s military-industrial sector, including in the manufacture of military equipment, missiles, artillery systems and military aircraft.

Sanctions were also imposed on 45 individuals and eight legal entities accused of supporting Russia’s war and occupation of Ukrainian territory. Among those named is former Ukrainian Party of Regions lawmaker Yurii Ivaniushchenko. Five Russian citizens and four organizations connected to the animated series “Masha and the Bear,” including its Animaccord studio and key creators, were also sanctioned over what Ukraine described as the distribution of pro-Russian narratives to children. Ukrainian officials said the country would provide partners with information to coordinate the restrictions internationally.
