Queensland police have charged a 32-year-old Edmonton man after receiving reports of an armed person near Ravizza Park in Cairns on August 21. Police said the man was allegedly carrying a machete in the area. He was taken into custody a short time after officers received the report. The man was charged with going armed to cause fear, possessing a knife in a public place or school, obstructing police, possessing utensils or pipes, and possessing dangerous drugs. He is scheduled to appear in Cairns Magistrates Court on August 22. Police are asking anyone with information to contact Policelink or Crime Stoppers, quoting reference number QP2601628031.
