A 46-year-old man has died following a police operation at Waterford West, south of Brisbane, on August 17, according to the Queensland Police Service. Police said officers intercepted a vehicle on Kingston Road near Beutel Street at about 6 p.m. and arrested the sole male driver. Preliminary information indicates the man became non-compliant and was restrained by officers. The man later sustained a serious self-inflicted injury while in police custody. Officers provided first aid, but he was declared deceased at the scene. The State Coroner has been notified. The QPS Ethical Standards Command is investigating the incident under independent oversight from the Crime and Corruption Commission.
