Two More Charged in Runcorn Crash

Queensland police have charged two additional men over a fatal traffic crash in Runcorn that killed a 72-year-old pedestrian in June.

Police allege the woman was struck by a blue Toyota Hilux on Beenleigh Road shortly before 7:30 p.m. on June 28. The alleged driver, a 30-year-old Kingston man, fled the scene. The woman suffered critical injuries and later died at Princess Alexandra Hospital. The vehicle was subsequently found burnt out on Avalon Road, Sheldon.

The Kingston man was charged on July 3 with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death, leaving the scene without obtaining help, damaging evidence with intent and driving while disqualified.

Following further investigations, a 45-year-old Rochedale South man was charged with being an accessory after the fact, while a 28-year-old Jimboomba man was charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice. They are scheduled to appear separately in Brisbane Magistrates Court on September 2 and September 7.
