Queensland police have ended a marine search and rescue operation near Carbrook Boat Ramp after locating an 83-year-old man deceased on August 6.

Police were called shortly before 6 p.m. on August 5 after the man failed to return as planned from a boating trip. He had departed from the Carbrook boat ramp earlier that day and was expected back at 3 p.m.

The search involved multiple Water Police vessels and Polair, with assistance from Marine Rescue Queensland and Coastguard. Police located the man’s unoccupied vessel overnight near the Carbrook and Alberton boat ramps.

At about 8:30 a.m., officers found the man approximately one kilometre from the boat ramp. Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
