Queensland police are renewing an appeal for information about a fatal traffic crash at Hodgson Vale in which a Toowoomba man died from his injuries several weeks later.

Police allege that shortly before 9 p.m. on December 31, 2024, a white single-cab Toyota Hilux was travelling along Windermere Drive when it struck the 57-year-old man near Hazelmere Court. The driver allegedly left the scene.

The man was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment but later died. Following an extensive investigation, an 18-year-old Middle Ridge man, who was 17 at the time of the crash, was charged in December 2025 with offences including driving without due care and attention causing death, failing to remain at the scene and render assistance, failing to comply with driver obligations, and driving a defective vehicle.

The Forensic Crash Unit said inquiries remain ongoing and investigators believe witnesses or others with relevant information may not yet have come forward. Anyone with information, or footage of the crash or events leading up to it, is urged to contact Policelink or Crime Stoppers, quoting reference QP2402267279.
