Samsung Electronics said Prime Video will become the first streaming service to offer HDR10+ ADVANCED on supported titles globally beginning in August 2026. The technology will initially be available on Samsung’s 2026 television lineup, offering enhanced brightness and motion processing for compatible movies and shows. HDR10+ ADVANCED is the latest version of the HDR10+ standard, designed for newer televisions with larger screens, higher peak brightness and greater processing capabilities. It uses extended metadata and AI-driven tone mapping to improve brightness across the image while preserving detail in darker scenes. The standard also includes Intelligent Motion Smoothing, which uses scene-specific metadata to adjust motion processing. Samsung and Prime Video said the feature is intended to preserve a cinematic appearance for films while delivering smoother movement in sports, action and other fast-paced content. The launch expands on the companies’ HDR10+ collaboration, which began in 2017. Samsung said the HDR10+ ecosystem now includes 183 adopter companies and more than 22,000 certified products.
