Ukraine, UAE Discuss Maritime Security

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone call with United Arab Emirates President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Aug. 1, according to Ukraine’s presidential office. The leaders discussed the security of maritime routes and efforts to strengthen the ability to protect lives.

The presidential office provided no further details about the maritime security discussions or any agreements reached during the call.

In a separate address the same day, Zelenskyy called for additional international support for Ukraine, including Patriot air-defense missile systems. He said countries that possess the systems must make political decisions to provide the necessary packages to Ukraine, describing the assistance as a response to Russian attacks.
