A 37-year-old Brightview man has been charged after Queensland police allegedly found more than 30 kilograms of suspected stolen copper wiring, power tools and drugs during a vehicle search near Fernvale. Lowood police attended a rest area on July 15 following reports of unlawful campers. Officers allegedly discovered stripped and unstripped copper wiring inside a grey Toyota Kluger, which was seized and taken to a secure location for further examination. Detectives from the Ipswich District Property Crime Team executed a search warrant on the vehicle the following day. Police allege they found 31 kilograms of stripped copper wiring, five kilograms of unstripped electrical cable, suspected stolen tools, batteries, a charger, methylamphetamine and drug utensils. The man has been charged with possessing suspected stolen property, possessing dangerous drugs and possessing drug utensils. He remains in custody and is due to appear at Ipswich Magistrates Court on August 6. Investigations into the ownership of the recovered property are continuing.
