In a significant move, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has enacted new decrees to extend and intensify sanctions against various entities and individuals aiding Russia’s military efforts. These decrees, prompted by decisions from the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, aim to cripple support for Russia’s ongoing military activities against Ukraine. The newly signed decrees target companies and their founders involved in the production and modernization of Russian military equipment, including firearms, drones, and data systems used by Russian forces. Additionally, the sanctions extend to entities providing meteorological and IT services to Russian aviation. In a broader sweep, the sanctions also impact 67 individuals and one legal entity known for supporting Russia’s armed aggression, particularly in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. Notable among these are several self-proclaimed ministers, members of parliament, and judges. Highlighting specific cases, the sanctions have named individuals such as Raisa Prylypko, a kindergarten director accused of abducting children from Donetsk to Russia, and Ivan Dotsenko, head of the MIR agricultural company who has been urging cooperation with Russian forces in Kherson. The measures also target Soyuzmetallservis, a company aiding the operation of key industrial facilities in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions under Russian control. Vladyslav Vlasiuk, Advisor-Commissioner of the President for Sanctions Policy, stated, “The pressure from these sanctions will continue to intensify, reflecting our commitment to resist any form of support for the Russian war effort, both locally and globally.” He also indicated that Ukraine would coordinate with international partners to ensure these sanctions are globally synchronized, thereby maximizing their impact.
