A dramatic scene unfolded at Everton Park, Brisbane, as a man attempted a violent car theft, leading to his arrest and multiple charges. The incident occurred at approximately 12:40 PM on June 15, when a 23-year-old was assaulted in his car at a traffic light by an unknown assailant. According to Queensland Police Service (QPS), the victim was sitting in his silver Kia Rio when the assailant forcibly opened the car door, attacked him, and then attempted to hijack the vehicle. The ordeal didn’t end there; as the attacker tried to flee the scene, he collided with a bus and a Toyota Hilux utility before abandoning the car to escape on foot. The police swiftly responded, apprehending a 33-year-old man from Harristown at a nearby residence. He faces charges including robbery with violence, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle, and unlicensed driving. Denied police bail, the suspect is scheduled to appear before the Brisbane Magistrates Court on June 16. The victim sustained minor injuries but did not require hospitalization.
