In a significant move towards ensuring accountability and justice for Ukraine amidst ongoing conflicts, Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) are set to vote on a resolution. This resolution is a response to Russia’s continuous aggression against Ukrainian civilians. The vote, scheduled for noon today, not only seeks to affirm support for Ukraine but also includes a proposal for the EU to engage with the International Claims Commission. This engagement aims to secure proper compensation for the victims of what is described as Russia’s brutal war of aggression.

Additionally, amidst external pressures undermining the Digital Markets Act, MEPs are prepared to vote on enforcing stringent measures to uphold the integrity of this legislation. The resolution encourages the European Commission to utilize its full range of enforcement tools, including periodic penalties, to prevent any circumvention of the law by companies, irrespective of their geographical location.

Today’s session will also include a vote on the criminalization of cyberbullying, advocating for it to be recognized as a criminal offense under EU law. This follows recent debates highlighting the need for legislative measures to address loopholes that currently allow social media platforms to evade responsibility for online harassment. Moreover, the plenary session will address various other critical topics, including discussions on the sustainability of the EU livestock sector and the significant role of women entrepreneurs in rural and island areas.
