Two teenagers have been formally charged in connection with a string of assault and robbery incidents in Inner Brisbane, escalating concerns over youth crime in the area. The charges stem from an event on March 31 near the William Jolly Bridge, where the accused allegedly attempted to rob a 23-year-old woman. According to the Queensland Police Service (QPS), the teens, riding on e-scooters, tried to steal the woman’s headphones and subsequently assaulted her verbally and spat at her. Although the woman escaped physical harm, the ordeal marks a troubling rise in similar cases reported between March 31 and April 4, affecting a total of 12 victims. Investigations led to the arrest of three teenagers at a Woodridge property on April 7. A 19-year-old from Underwood faces multiple charges, including common assault and robbery, and was denied police bail, leading to a court appearance in Brisbane Magistrates Court. The other two, aged 16, from Boronia Heights and Acacia Ridge, also face several charges related to assault and theft. Senior Sergeant Brendan Blyth of the Indooroopilly Criminal Investigation Branch emphasized the severity of the situation, stating that such brazen offenses would not be tolerated and reaffirmed the police’s commitment to combating street crime. The community is urged to report any related information as investigations continue. For those wishing to provide anonymous tips, Queensland Police have encouraged contacting Crime Stoppers. The public can also report suspicious activities directly through the Policelink service. Post navigation Fuel Heists Rock Cairns
