Queensland Police are intensifying their investigation into a series of suspicious fires in Darra and Inala, dating back to 2024, following the emergence of new evidence suggesting possible connections between the incidents. The appeal for public assistance was renewed in March 2026 by the Acacia Ridge Criminal Investigation Branch.

The first incident occurred in the early hours of June 26, 2024, when a fire broke out in a minibus on Kokoda Street in Darra, subsequently spreading to another vehicle and a residential property, causing significant damage. Later that year, on December 28, emergency services responded to two more fires in Inala; one at a Japonica Street property, which was completely destroyed, and another at Bamboo Street, which was quickly contained with minimal damage.

Thankfully, there were no injuries reported from any of the fires. However, the police have reiterated their calls for information from the public, emphasizing the importance of even seemingly minor details that could aid their investigation.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Simon Ball stated, “Even if the information you have seems small, it may be the piece of the puzzle that will assist our investigation. If you have any knowledge of who is responsible, the investigators would like to speak to you.”

Authorities encourage anyone with information, or who may have witnessed suspicious activity related to these incidents, to contact Policelink or report anonymously through Crime Stoppers. The ongoing investigation underscores the community’s role in aiding law enforcement efforts to resolve such disturbing events.
