In a significant law enforcement operation, the North Brisbane District Police have charged 179 individuals with 321 offenses. This crackdown is part of ongoing proactive patrols aimed at reducing crime in high foot-traffic areas and addressing late-night property and vehicle crimes.

The operations, named Operation Grimlock and Operation Thunderstrike, have been active since early this year, focusing on high-risk areas including shopping centers and public transport hubs around Brisbane. Operation Grimlock alone has resulted in 42 people being charged with 84 offenses since February 21. One notable arrest involved a 47-year-old man from Macgregor who was found in possession of illegal weapons and drugs during a vehicle interception by the Boondall Tactical Crime Squad.

Operation Thunderstrike, relaunched on January 1, has led to 137 offenders being charged with 237 offenses. A recent incident under this operation occurred on February 26, when two teenagers allegedly robbed a Brisbane City convenience store, threatening an employee with a weapon before being apprehended at a nearby bus station.

Both operations are supported by Operation Yankee Forge, which provides statewide intelligence and specialist capabilities to further disrupt and investigate crimes. The local police encourage anyone with information related to these cases to contact them through Policelink or Crime Stoppers. The operations are ongoing, with the police committed to maintaining safety and order in public spaces across Brisbane’s north.
