A 35-year-old male from Burpengary has been charged with murder following the death of a 69-year-old man in the same locality, Queensland Police reported on March 6, 2026. The incident, described as domestic violence-related, occurred early in the morning and led to the swift arrest of the younger man. Detectives from the Petrie Criminal Investigation Branch, along with the Homicide Investigation Unit, were dispatched to Winfred Street around 9 AM after receiving reports of an unresponsive man inside a residence. Emergency services responded to the scene where the older man was found deceased. The accused was arrested at the location without incident. Following a preliminary investigation, authorities charged the suspect with one count of murder related to domestic violence on the afternoon of the same day.
