In a significant crackdown on illegal weapons and drugs, two men in Rockhampton have been charged following the execution of search warrants by the Rockhampton Tactical Crime Squad. The operations, which took place last week, led to the seizure of multiple firearms and drugs, shedding light on the underground activities in the region.

The first raid occurred around 9:30 am on February 24 at an Oswald Street address in Allenstown. Authorities reported the confiscation of a shotgun, rifle, and various ammunitions. A 25-year-old local man faces charges including unlawful possession of category A weapons and offenses related to unauthorized explosives. He is scheduled to appear in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on March 10.

Further intensifying their efforts, police conducted a second operation around 12:26 pm on February 25, targeting a wanted individual at a licensed venue on Yaamba Rd, Parkhurst. Subsequently, a search warrant on a vehicle parked outside the venue led to the discovery of a handgun and marked the vehicle as a crime scene. A 21-year-old man from Frenchville was arrested, facing multiple charges encompassing unlawful possession of weapons across various categories, possession of dangerous drugs including methylenedioxymethamphetamine and cocaine, and other related offenses. He remains in custody with a court reappearance set for May 27.

Queensland Police urge the public to report any suspicious activities through Policelink or anonymously via Crime Stoppers. Community cooperation is vital in aiding law enforcement efforts to maintain safety and security in the area.
