In a decisive move on February 28, 2026, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy implemented a series of sanctions against ten Russian transport and logistics companies accused of supporting military operations in Ukraine’s occupied territories. This action follows a directive from Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council.

The sanctioned entities are primarily involved in the delivery of cargo to areas under Russian control and are instrumental in logistical operations that benefit the Russian military. These companies are also implicated in utilizing infrastructure forcibly taken from Ukrposhta, Ukraine’s national postal operator, to distribute pensions and other payments, and illegally issue passports and draft notices within the occupied regions.

Vladyslav Vlasiuk, Advisor-Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for Sanctions Policy, emphasized the critical role of these postal services in the international transport of microelectronics and other dual-use goods, which can be used in military applications. He stated, “It is unacceptable that a microchip can be mailed from Germany to Moscow,” highlighting the broader implications of these sanctions in curtailing such activities. The Ukrainian government has communicated these developments to its international partners, reinforcing its commitment to undermining logistical support to Russian forces.
