Police in Thuringowa have charged two teenagers following a series of attempted armed robberies at a local shopping center, illustrating a disturbing trend of juvenile involvement in serious criminal activities. On the morning of February 13, two young boys, aged 14 and 12, allegedly targeted individuals in the shopping center car park. Their first attempt involved an 83-year-old woman seated in her car, from whom they tried unsuccessfully to snatch car keys after a brief struggle. Merely half an hour later, they reportedly threatened a 29-year-old woman with a knife, demanding her car keys. The woman managed to escape, and the teenagers did not succeed in their robbery attempt. Fortunately, no physical injuries were reported from either incident. The rapid response of the Queensland Police led to the arrest of the suspects at 10:54 AM the same day, thanks to witness accounts and CCTV footage. The 14-year-old faces multiple charges including attempted armed robbery and serious assault, while the 12-year-old has been charged with attempted armed robbery. Both are scheduled to appear in the Townsville Children’s Court on February 20. Authorities are urging anyone with further information to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
