In a series of coordinated police actions, a 20-year-old man from Brassall has been charged with armed robbery and other offenses following a spate of motorcycle thefts in Ipswich, Queensland. The Queensland Police Service reported the incidents and subsequent arrest, which occurred over two days leading up to December 28. According to the police, on December 26, at approximately 7 PM, two motorcycles—a black BMW and a blue Yamaha R3—intercepted and subsequently stole a dark-colored Kawasaki Ninja on the Warrego Highway between Dinmore and Blacksoil, leaving the BMW behind. The following day, a similar scenario unfolded when three motorcycles forced a Yamaha R7 rider off his bike at the junction of Bognuda Street and Law Street in Bundamba. The perpetrators fled with the Yamaha R7. The breakthrough in the case came after Ipswich Criminal Investigation Branch, during directed patrols, spotted motorcycles matching the description of those involved in the incidents. With assistance from PolAir, police pursued a dark-colored Kawasaki Ninja through Ipswich. The pursuit culminated when the motorcycle, allegedly driven by the charged individual, ran a red light at high speed, colliding with a cyclist before fleeing the scene. The cyclist received on-site medical assessment for injuries sustained. The chase continued until the suspect was apprehended on Mount Crosby Road, Anstead. The 20-year-old faces multiple charges, including two counts of armed robbery, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and driving without a license. He appeared before the Ipswich Magistrates Court on December 29. As the investigation continues, authorities are keen to identify other individuals involved and are urging the public to come forward with any relevant CCTV or dashcam footage. The Queensland Police have provided several contact methods for witnesses to share information anonymously or otherwise. Post navigation Townsville’s Perilous Burnout
