Detectives from the Tablelands Child Protection and Investigation Unit have recently arrested a 57-year-old man from Mount Garnet, charging him with multiple child exploitation offenses. The arrest followed an attempted importation of a child-like doll into Far North Queensland, which was intercepted by the Australian Border Force on November 21. Further investigations led Queensland Police to execute a search warrant at the suspect’s residence. During the search, authorities discovered not only the initially intercepted doll but also two additional dolls, child clothing, and child exploitation material. Moreover, they found cannabis, drug utensils, and digital devices allegedly used to access child abuse material. The accused faces three counts of possessing child exploitation material, two counts each of using a carriage service to access child abuse material and possessing drug utensils, along with one count each of intentionally importing goods without approval, possessing a child abuse object, making child exploitation material, and possessing a dangerous drug. He is scheduled to appear in the Mareeba Magistrates Court on January 13, 2026. Queensland Police urge anyone with information related to this case or similar activities to contact Policelink or report anonymously via Crime Stoppers.
