From November 3 to 7, 2025, the European Parliament (EP) will host its sixth annual Gender Equality Week, focusing on leveraging women’s talents through education, training, and employment to spur economic growth and societal progress. This year’s theme, “Talent,” aims to close the gender talent gap in educational and professional environments, ensuring that women have the opportunities to excel and contribute fully to Europe’s development. The week will feature a series of committee debates and events, with key discussions led by prominent figures such as Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament, and Antonella Sberna, EP Vice-President in charge of Gender Equality Week. Metsola emphasized the transformative impact of women’s success on communities and economies, while Sberna highlighted the importance of nurturing talent across all sectors to secure Europe’s future. Lina Gálvez, Chair of the Women’s Rights and Gender Equality Committee, stressed that while talent is universal, opportunities are not, underscoring the urgency of addressing these disparities. A highlight of the week includes a high-level event on November 4, led by Sberna and Gálvez, featuring discussions with European Commission’s Executive Vice-President Henna Virkkunen and other distinguished professionals from various fields. These discussions aim to explore effective strategies to create conditions where every talent can thrive, regardless of gender. The event will be available for live viewing, providing a platform for broader engagement and awareness. The European Parliament established Gender Equality Week in 2020 as a yearly initiative to assess progress, celebrate achievements, and identify new ways to advance women’s rights and gender equality across the continent. This initiative not only reflects an ongoing commitment to gender equality but also recognizes the essential role women play in driving forward economic and social agendas.
