The European Parliament is set to host its sixth annual Gender Equality Week from November 3rd to 7th, 2025, focusing on leveraging women’s talent across various sectors to foster economic growth and societal progress. Under the theme “Talent,” the event will include committee debates and high-profile discussions aimed at addressing the gender talent gap, particularly in education and employment sectors. Antonella Sberna, Vice-President of the European Parliament responsible for Gender Equality Week, emphasized the importance of nurturing talent from classrooms to boardrooms to ensure Europe’s future. She highlighted the ongoing efforts to eliminate barriers that hinder gender equality. Lina Gálvez, Chair of the Women’s Rights and Gender Equality Committee, also added that while talent is ubiquitous, opportunities are not, stressing the urgency for action towards equality. The highlight of the week includes a high-level event on November 4, led by Antonella Sberna, featuring distinguished speakers such as Henna Virkkunen, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission; Michaela Benthaus, a young graduate trainee at the ESA; and several other experts from diverse fields. Additionally, on November 5, a public hearing will discuss Women’s Leadership in Politics, further exploring the challenges and opportunities in fostering gender equality in political spheres. This annual initiative, first launched in 2020, not only assesses progress but also celebrates achievements and explores new ways to advance women’s rights and gender equality through collaborative discussions and events organized by various committees and political groups within the Parliament.
