Detectives from the Rockhampton Property Crime Unit have arrested 38 individuals for over 200 property-related crimes in a significant crackdown this month. The operation, named Operation Chainlink, was launched on October 14th with the goal of addressing repeat offenders and curtailing property crimes in the Rockhampton vicinity. The focus of Operation Chainlink has been on a variety of offences, including burglary, unlawful entry, and the unauthorized use of motor vehicles. During a concentrated three-day effort from October 18th to 20th, a 43-year-old man from Wandal was apprehended. He is alleged to have broken into multiple residences in Rockhampton City and Allenstown. Further allegations include possession of a knife in a public area at a Yaamba Road shopping center and theft from a local retail store. The Wandal man faces multiple charges, which include four counts of entering a dwelling to commit an indictable offence, two counts of theft, and one count each of entering premises, common assault, possession of a knife in a public place, illegal possession of suspected stolen property, and trespassing. He remains in custody, with a court appearance scheduled for November 13 at the Rockhampton Magistrates Court. Queensland Police are encouraging the community to come forward with any information related to property crimes by contacting Crimestoppers or Policelink. The public can report anonymously via Crime Stoppers or use the online suspicious activity form available through the Policelink website, ensuring community involvement in maintaining public safety.
